Verhalten von rsnapshot/rsync

Hallo zusammen,

ich habe momentan mit meinem automatischen rsnapshot-Backup das Problem, dass der Sicherungsdatenräger immer voll läuft. Eigentlich sollte das nicht passieren es handelt sich um eine 3TB Platte, es müssen aber "nur" 1,5TB gesichert werden. Mir ist bewusst das durch inkrementelle Änderungen das Datenvolumen durchaus ansteigen kann aber "Pi * Daumen" würde ich sagen in diesem Fall sollte der Platz ausreichen. Wichtig ist das die Konfiguration von rsnapshot 3 Rotationen, daily, weekly, und monthly vorsieht. Ich kann mir mehrere Ursachen für das Problem vorstellen bin mir aber nicht ganz sicher welche davon zutreffen kann:

  • die Rotationen daily, weekly und monthly sichern jeweils den kompletten Datenbestand, d.h. es gibt z.B. keinen symlink von einer Datei im monthly backup, auch wenn exakt die selbe datei bereits im weekly vorhanden ist.
  • falls identische dateien in der Verzeichnisstruktur verschoben werden, z.B.:
    Gestern:
    /home/user/grossedatei.dat

    Heute:
    /home/user/grossedatei.dat -> /home/user/newdir/grossedatei.dat
    kopiert rsnapshot die Datei trotzdem erneut, statt einfach einen symlink unter dem neuen Pfad zu setzen.

Weiß jemand ob eine meiner Vermutungen zutrifft und rsnapshot sich tatsächlich so verhält, wenn ja gibt es eine Möglichkeit das Verhalten zu ändern?

Das OS ist OpenSuse 13.1.
